27th Alaska 10K Classic Road Race -- Course Descriptions and Map

Both courses are now USATF Certified!

10K Race Course: The 6.2 mile race course begins near the Moseley Sports Center on the Alaska Pacific University campus and heads down University Drive Hill. Just before the University Dr / Elmore Rd / Providence Dr intersection, the course bears right onto the bike path at the intersection of University Drive and the road leading to KSKA/KAKM radio and televison stations. The course turns right at UAA's Alumni Dr, and proceeds a short distance before turning left into the library parking lot. It then turns right and proceeds toward the north perimeter of the parking lot, turns left near the northwest corner of the parking lot, before turning right onto the Goose Lake Trail and proceeding to and through the Goose Lake parking lot and onto the Chester Creek Trail. After crossing the footbridge over Northern Lights Blvd., the course proceeds to the first fork, turns right and curves around Takishla Park. Returning to the Chester Creek Trail, the course heads west to Westchester Lagoon where it merges with the 5K course as it turns up U Street, onto Bootlegger Cove Drive, bears right onto 11th Ave, left onto Beech Lane, left onto P Street, to the Delaney Park Strip and the finish line.

5K Race Course: The 3.1 mile race course begins on the Coastal Trail just west of the tunnel next to Elderberry Park, proceeds west past Westchester Lagoon to near the one mile mark on the Coastal Trail, then returns to Westchester Lagoon, turns onto the Chester Creek Trail heading east, then merges with the 10K race course as it turns up U Street, onto Bootlegger Cove Drive, bears right onto 11th Ave, left onto Beech Lane, left onto P Street, to the Delaney Park Strip and the finish line.
